About the role
The Shire of Murchison is seeking an experienced Maintenance Grader Operator/Labourer to join our team in Murchison, WA 6630. This is a full-time position based on-site, where you will play a critical role in maintaining and developing the local road infrastructure and facilities. Your work will directly impact the accessibility and safety of our community.
What you'll be doing

Operating graders and other heavy plant machinery to maintain roads, ensuring surfaces meet safety and quality standards

Performing routine maintenance on roads, including grading, pothole repairs and drainage management

Assisting with the installation and repair of road infrastructure, including culverts, signs and safety features

Operating heavy machinery safely and in accordance with all relevant legislation and regulations

Maintaining equipment and reporting any faults or maintenance requirements to supervisors

Working collaboratively with the maintenance team to meet project deadlines and community needs

Adhering to all workplace health and safety protocols and contributing to a safe work environment

Camping out. Due to the vastness of Murchison 80-90% of work will have you in the bush Monday to Friday.
What we're looking for

A current, unrestricted HC class drivers license.

Proven experience operating graders, earthmoving equipment and other heavy plant machinery in road maintenance or construction environments

Knowledge of road maintenance standards and construction practices relevant to rural road networks

Demonstrated commitment to workplace health and safety compliance, including understanding of risk management

Physical fitness and the ability to perform physically demanding work in varying weather conditions

Reliable, punctual and professional approach to work with strong teamwork capabilities

Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment maintenance and fault diagnosis
