Join Our Team – Gardener/Handyman Do you have a passion for irrigation and regeneration? Then you might be our next Gardener at Murchison Settlement.
We’re looking for a dynamic individual to join our Parks and Gardens team. You will be part of a small that makes Murchison Settlement an attractive place for residents and tourists alike. This role includes maintenance of our parks and gardens including reticulation systems, general handyman work such as housing maintenance, waste collection, among other duties. About Us The Shire of Murchison may be small in population, but we’re big in size and heart. Located 300km from Geraldton and 650km from Perth, the Murchison Settlement is entirely Council-managed. This includes the council office, depot, housing, power and water supply, community and recreation facilities, Roadhouse, and Caravan Park.
With recent upgrades including a new pool and splash pad, redeveloped Roadhouse, and more modern staff accommodation on the way, we’re excited to welcome new team members to help us grow.

- Maintenance of reticulation systems
- Lawn mowing and garden maintenance
- Waste collection

What We Offer
- Salary: $70,000 – $82,000 per annum (based on 76–90 hour fortnight)
- Superannuation: 12% employer contribution + up to 5% voluntary co-contribution via salary sacrifice
- Accommodation: Partly furnished, air-conditioned residence with utilities (power, water, gas) covered by the Shire
- Connectivity: Home internet and Foxtel services at reduced cost
- Logistics: Weekly free freight service from Geraldton
Start Date This position is available now, with an immediate start preferred.
Requirements
- Proven experience in irrigation repairs and maintenance or qualifications in horticulture or landscaping
- A current driver’s licence and reliable transport (due to our remote location)
- Forklift ticket is advantageous
