Murchison Shire might be small in population, but we are big in size and heart. 

Located some 300km from Geraldton and 650km from Perth, Murchison Settlement is entirely Council managed.  Council office, depot, housing, power and water supply, community and recreation facilities, Roadhouse and Caravan Park are now all under our umbrella. 

The Shire has a revamped community focus and a raft of new projects to implement. As with all councils, especially small ones, this very much depends on the skills and capabilities of each individual. In our instance we have additional housing costs and considerations which means that where we can have more than one staff member employed and reside in one house the operational costs reduce.

This situation may apply to some of the current vacant positions we have on offer, which due to unusual circumstances are larger in number than is normal. 

We are currently seeking the following:


Administration & Roadhouse


Community Role (New position)

Mechanic (Replacement position)

Finance / Admin Officer (New position)

Gardener (New position required)

Casual Roadhouse Customer Services Officers and Cleaning Staff used during the year & often required

Plant Operator Construction (Replacement position)

Plant Operator Maintenance (Replacement position)
