Works
The Shire of Murchison has a full-time works crew of 6 employees. The crew are split into a 4-man construction crew and a 2-man maintenance crew.
The construction crew construct and reconstruct sections of road within the Shire so that the road system is improved overall.
The maintenance crew consists of 2 graders, which are working continuously to maintain all roads to the highest possible standard.
The currently the construction crew are working on flood damaged caused by ex tropical cyclone Nicholas and Ophelia in early 2008 which damaged the Carnarvon Mullewa Road, Yallalong Road and Butchers Track.
Other projects in the budget for the 2007/08 year are:
- 15km seal of the Carnarvon Mullewa road From the settlement south.
- realignment of the Twin Peaks Road and Kalli Road. This is to change the road from going thrugh the homestead to around.
Council have also received $690,000 to develop a floodway at the Ballinyoo Bridge. This will divert the traffic off the bridge is dry period and when the river is flowing traffic can then still you the bridge. With this project the shire is hoping to extend the life of the Bridge.
